ACT selected to deliver smart-ticketing back office for Great Western Railway

FirstGroup Plc has renewed its central SaaS contract with ACT (Applied Card Technologies Limited) to support its growing smart ticketing innovations and to support its new franchise, Great Western Railway (GWR).
GWR manages 208 stations and its trains call at over 280 stations. It operates train services between London Paddington, South Wales, the Cotswolds and the West of England.

ACT customer, c2c, has launched Flexi-Season tickets utilising ACT’s back-office smart ticketing service.
The Flexi-Season ticket marks a major step forward in giving part-time workers the same benefits as commuters who are regular season ticket holders.

Clyde Commuters GoSmart with McGill’s

McGill’s Clyde commuters using some of McGill’s busiest routes are set to benefit from a new Smart ticketing trial being introduced from 26 February. From this date, customers on the company’s ClydeFlyer routes will be able to purchase a 10-journey carnet on a new smart card for use between Largs, Dunoon, Inverclyde and Glasgow city centre. The new 10-journey tickets will offer customers a convenient and flexible way of travelling; the GoSmart card, which carries the saltirecard branding on one side for the trial, is pre-loaded before travel and can be topped up with additional 10 journeys, as and when required, on any ClydeFlyer bus or at SPT Travel Centres.

PayPoint launches multi-operator smart ticketing service in the Greater Manchester area

PayPoint has launched its multi-operator smart ticketing service across the Greater Manchester area. The new service will allow passengers to purchase selected current System One travelcards to load onto a get me there or other ITSO compatible smart card at any of the 1,334 PayPoint retailers in the region.
The launch is the latest in a growing number of major smart transport services operated by PayPoint, using ACT’s Cloud Ticketing Service. It follows successful launches in Merseyside and Cardiff over the past two years, bringing more value to retailers and giving customers extra reasons to do more at their local store.
